Month of July, Food for the Needy Collection
During the month of July, we will be collecting items for Richard Chapel’s Food for the Needy program. They are in special need of canned goods and plasticware. A collection bin will be available in the narthex so please keep this opportunity to make a difference in mind the next time you take a trip to the grocery store. Thanks to the Membership/Outreach Committee for coordinating this effort.
August 7, Contemplative Prayer Service
Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
Please join us in St. John’s sanctuary the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 am as Allison DeHart facilitates a time of silent prayer. This holy practice follows an ancient Christian contemplative prayer tradition dating back to the third century Desert Fathers and Mothers.
The service will begin with a short reading and introduction to centering prayer followed by a sequence of silent, seated prayer followed by walking around the sanctuary in silence and returning to silent, seated prayer. The service will conclude by 11:00 am.
August 28, The Tour De Donut
Save the date! The Tour De Donut is returning to Troy on August 28. Apparently, St. John’s has acquired the reputation for being friendly, efficient and dedicated Donut Servers, and we are hopeful that the new organizers will again count on us for help. Please add your name to the list in the Narthex if you are interested in spending that morning with hundreds of cyclists and thousands of donuts.
September 18, Church Picnic
