In Community

Good afternoon friends, this is Pastor Don. Thousands of people have been asking for my opinion about church attendance in this time in history. Well, maybe only hundreds. OK, nobody asked me. So this one is all on me.

I have come to believe that so much of the walk with God has been designed by God to take place in community. A place where we can learn to love people that aren’t like us, where we can teach and be taught, where we can support, lift, and encourage one another and where we can compare notes on our particular walk with God. You can’t do that alone.

And, if you want Biblical encouragement, the Hebrew writer said: not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.

I know that this is a time when church attendance is lagging and I understand that, to some degree, that is the fault of the churches themselves. But, faults or no faults, we need each other and children need to grow up understanding that spiritual nurture is important for the WHOLE family.

So, there’s no better time to reconnect with the church than this Sunday, Easter Sunday. Tonight at 5:30 we will gather our families together for a traditional Seder meal, much like the meal Jesus had with his disciples before his crucifixion. On Sunday morning at 9:00, we will all enjoy an Easter breakfast with chef Mike behind the spatula. Then Easter morning worship is at 10:30 where we will think about the “World’s Greatest Love Story.” You are welcome here!

Let’s pray: God you are the one who has always gathered your people into groups. Teach us the importance of this plan of yours. Amen
