Good afternoon, friends. Just this morning, I read one of the Proverbs: Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. It was Proverbs 11:28. It reminded me of what is happening in my yard right now!
There is something so persistent about green things in spring. It’s as though the soil and the roots or the bulbs have been absorbing energy and moisture all winter long until they just can’t help themselves. They can’t wait to break out of the cold and icy ground to bloom! Verdant is the word.
I know we all go through seasons in our lives and sometimes those seasons correspond with the seasons of the year. For example, we go through winter times of our souls where we need to rest and replenish our resources. It’s such an important time!
But, for me, there is nothing more beautiful than watching spring happen! It is a moment when all that collective energy just has to break out and express itself. Is it springtime in your spiritual and inner life? What is that like for you? I notice that my tulips are all recognizable year after year. Each one expresses itself in the way it was created to do! So, my prayer for you and for me is that when we have spent an adequate time in rest and replenishing, that we, too, will let our spirits be freed up to be who we were designed by our creator to be! That our true selves will blossom into beauty unique to our own design and we will be a blessing to others and a source of real joy to the one who made us.
Let us pray: God of all nature – we are amazed at your creative artistry this Spring. Do in us what you do so regularly in our world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
