The Vision Team has been working following the congregational discussion event and survey to put into action the goals expressed by the church. They consolidated the most common interests into a beginning emphasis, to embrace the focus on children and activities involving the whole congregation and including the wider community. They saw a need for a process that would encourage events that would meet the goals and ensure their success. They wanted to support newer members who might have ideas for activities, but who didn’t know how to get started, who to contact, and what existing committees to work with.
They came up with the idea of an Event Planning Coordinator. They asked me to consider being this person. When requested, I will be doing my best to bridge new ideas, existing committee structures, other activities, and resources needed and available. Some of the ways I could help are clarifying goals, handling scheduling concerns, deciding on best location, publicizing, and connecting with committees or individuals who could help, getting or paying for supplies, and anticipating problems. As time goes on, I will be exploring some of these areas in future Journal articles.
Let me know if you have an idea for an event and would like me to work with you. I will try to assist you to make it happen and be a success, not as an ongoing working member of your team, but as a resource.
