Called to Holiness

I read today about Josemaria Escriva, a Spanish priest who believed and taught that everyone is called to holiness by God and that ordinary life can result in sanctity. What a good word for us all! As this Advent prepares us for Christmas Day, we are fully capable of turning the secular commercialization of this season into something sacred and rich with meaning. The lights, gifts, and celebrations are wonderful in and of themselves, but they can also point us toward a living encounter with God as we peer into the eyes of the baby Jesus this Christmas. Josemaria said: “God is here. This truth should
fill our lives, and every Christmas should be for us a new and special meeting with God, when we allow his light and grace to enter deep into our soul.”

Mary Ann and I want to wish you all the best of Christmases. Wherever you find yourself on Christmas Day, may it be meaningful and filled with joy! It has been so good to be with you all this past year even though it has been a real challenge because of the pandemic.

We love you all! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
