Troy Mayors’ Concert

The Troy Mayors’ Concert featuring Oakwood Brass will be held on Prouty Plaza in downtown Troy on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Troy’s own mezzo soprano, Rachel Boezi will sing The National Anthem.  Please bring your own lawn chairs and come enjoy an evening of delightful music. 

(Rain location: Hobart Arena).

Free Concert

The Heidelberg University Concert Choir will be performing a concert for all to enjoy on Sunday, March 26, at 3:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Franklin Street here in Troy. This choir has long had a reputation of presenting fine music of many styles and musical periods. The Concert Choir will be joined by special guests, the Handbell Choir of Troy’s First United Methodist Church. Presented by the Troy Mayors’ Concerts organization, this concert offers an hour of some of the finest choral and bell music in the area.

He/she will be responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the Christian Education programs, curriculum planning and special events. Grandparent Support Group

The Gathering Place is hosting a support group for grandparents raising grandchildren monthly on the 1st and 3rd Monday, 6:30-7:30p facilitated by Pastor Ann Marie Winters. To register, call Ann Marie at 330.469.6296.

Lenten Bible Study

Plans are underway for a Lenten Bible Study on the five Thursdays of March. We will gather in Fellowship Hall for soup and extras about 11:30. Then we’ll spend some time discussing a few of the ideas presented by Jill J. Duffield in her book, Lent in Plain Sight. Finally, we will create a hands-on crafty souvenir of our discussion. A sign-up sheet for providing soup and extras (salad, sandwiches, artisanal bread) will be available in the narthex.

One Great Hour of Sharing

(OGHS) special mission offering of the United Church of Christ involves us in disaster, refugee/immigration, and development ministries throughout the world. When a disaster strikes or people are displaced or made refugees by violence or extreme poverty, we are part of the immediate response and of the long-term recovery.

Through OGHS we engage in holistic development programs including health care, education, agriculture, food sustainability, micro-financing and women’s empowerment. Because the UCC relates in mutual partnership to churches and organizations through Global Ministries and worldwide response & recovery networks, our contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing put us in the right place at the right time for the relief, accompaniment and recovery of the most vulnerable. We meet immediate needs and we address the underlying causes that create those needs in the first place.

We will receive this offering on March 26. You may use one of the special envelopes from the narthex, or indicate your gift on the fourth line of your regular giving envelope.

Ladies Fellowship

Ladies Fellowship will be going to the Cornerstone Café at JVS on
April 12th. We will meet at the church at 11:15am. If anyone would
like to schedule a service at the JVS salon, please do so by 3/26 –
there is a signup sheet in the narthex.

Maundy Thursday

Please plan on joining us on Thursday, April 6th at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall for a drama for Maundy Thursday.
