Friends and Fellow Travelers

Good afternoon, friends! I suppose most of you are aware of what a celebration we had on Sunday. We celebrated Father’s Day, Logan Wilson’s graduation, and my 80th birthday all on the same day.  It felt so good to be able to be together again like we often did over a year ago! There were more of us in the service Sunday than there have been for a long time and it made us feel so keenly the absence of a number of you whom we still have not seen since the pandemic. We do miss you if you are one of those who have not returned yet and we hope you will consider returning soon.

Last Sunday also reminded me of the value of celebrating and playing together! Sometimes I wonder if Jesus and his disciples didn’t simply kick back, relax, tell stories, and enjoy casual banter with one another. We know they went to a wedding party! It is amazing how those times bolster our spirits and make our connections just a little bit stronger.

I’ll be absent this coming Sunday and Mike Beamish will be preaching in my place. I believe his message will fit right into the theme I’ve been working on in recent days.  We will be with family in California and enjoy getting acquainted with our newest grandbaby (Hailey) whom we haven’t seen since just a couple of months after she was born. Chris, too, will be traveling, so there will be no Facebook Live this week. Thank you, Chris, for your faithful work in our tech ministry. We will all come back together again on the 4th of July and hope that you can join us.

LET’S PRAY: God, you made us with a need for friends and fellow travelers. Thank you for that precious gift. In Jesus name. Amen
